KDTC to the Rescue
KDTC supports local efforts to find lost dogs and to help rehome unclaimed and unwanted dogs.

In Kalamazoo, the main contact is Kalamazoo County Animal Services . The link to their petfinder website is: Save Our Strays.

Several members of KDTC are engaged in rescue work. Please email us at at kazoodog@yahoo.com if you are interested in adopting a a rescue dog. If we have one to match your interests and lifestyle, we'll do our best to help!

Help put Puppy Mills out of business! That cute puppy in the pet shop at the mall almost certainly was born and raised in wretched conditions at a puppy mill. At such places, female dogs whelp litter after litter without regard to the temperament, health or conformation of either parent. The result is often a puppy who becomes a dog that cannot fit in to a normal American family. Many of these dogs wind up in humane society shelters and animal control facilities--to become dogs in need of rescue.

If you are interested in a pet and don't want to adopt a rescue dog (or really want a dog with registration papers), find a breeder who is making an effort to breed only the healthiest, best built and mentally soundest dogs that are available. Also, good puppies from careful breeders often cost less than the one in the pet store.
