The Obedience Trial Championship (OTCH) is an American Kennel Club title for the most outstanding and successful competitors in obedience trials. Before a dog and handler team may begin to meet the requirements the OTCH, they must first complete the UD title. This, in itself, is an excellent accomplishment. The requirements for the OTCH are that the dog and handler team earn 100 points and at least one first place in Open B, one first place in Utility B and a third first place from either Open B or Utility B. Points are earned by winning or placing second, third or fourth in Utility B or Open B. The number of points earned depends on the number of dogs competing in the class.
As an example of the difficulty of earning the OTCH, consider the following statistics from 2003. In that year, 4,993 CDs were earned, 1,635 CDXs were earned; 645 UDs were earned but only 106 OTCHs.
KDTC is extremely proud to honor the following teams who have earned their OTCHs.
